For MG, energy isn’t just a product, it’s the foundation of everything they do. As a developer of advanced lithium-ion batteries for yachts and superyachts, MG is constantly exploring new ways to demonstrate the power and flexibility of their technology. For their events, they use an Expandable Pod as a mobile showcase to bring their innovations directly to the public.
At the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Pod served as both exhibition space and live demonstration. Every screen, light, and tool inside was powered entirely by MG’s own battery systems, showing how clean energy can be compact, reliable, and ready to go anywhere.
“We can use it all over the globe and set it up in no time,” says Gerard van der Schaar, founder of MG.
Six batteries provided power to the entire unit, transforming the Expandable into a fully autonomous base. With storage space for all equipment and quick setup on-site, MG could arrive, open up, and immediately start showcasing their products, no cables, no generators, just their own technology at work.

The collaboration goes both ways. Expandable now integrates MG’s battery systems as an optional power source for its units, available for both new models and those already in use. It’s a partnership built on shared principles: independence, smart engineering, and the drive to make every setup as effortless as it is powerful.
