Swiss-Ski uses an Expandable Trailer as a mobile wax and team space during international competitions. The unit combines working stations, storage, and meeting areas in one transport-ready setup. It allows service teams to operate consistently across locations. A practical solution for elite sport on the move.
Swiss-Ski is the national umbrella organization for snow sports in Switzerland, representing more than 100,000 members and all national teams competing at World Cups, World Championships, and the Olympic Games. For Nordic disciplines like biathlon, preparation behind the scenes is just as critical as performance on the course.
To support their service teams in the field, Swiss-Ski introduced a new mobile wax trailer built on an Expandable Trailer platform. The unit travels with the team from event to event, providing a consistent working environment regardless of location or conditions.
“We have six working stations, all the tools our service staff needs, and space for about 400 pairs of skis. When we move the trailer, everything stays inside, then we drive to the next location.”
Inside the trailer, six fully equipped working stations allow service staff to prepare and test skis efficiently. Storage is integrated throughout the space, with capacity for roughly 400 pairs of skis and all required tools. Despite the scale of the setup, the trailer is designed to remain intact during transport. When it moves, everything stays in place—minimizing setup time and reducing complexity between competitions.Beyond technical work, the trailer also functions as a shared team space. It includes room for meetings, strategy discussions, and recovery moments between sessions. “Here we are in a kind of meeting location for the whole team,” says Jürg Capol, Head of Nordic Sport at Swiss-Ski. “It’s a locker room as well. You can have discussions here, have a drink, and prepare for what’s next.”

For Swiss-Ski, having a stable, healthy environment for staff is essential. “It’s important for the whole staff to be healthy and to have a place where you can really have internal discussions,” Capol explains.Expandable supports that goal by providing mobile spaces that adapt to the realities of elite sport. By enabling teams to bring their infrastructure with them, Expandable allows organizations like Swiss-Ski to focus on preparation, collaboration, and performance—wherever the season takes them.
