This wasn’t about ticking off another line on a map

In Zinal, Switzerland, Remco, Jarin, and Dave spent a full week chasing steep technical lines while filming the ski movie they had talked about for years. During one of the most dangerous avalanche periods of the season, their Expandable 30ft Pod mounted on a 6x6 MAN truck became the foundation of the entire adventure, a mobile mountain basecamp that allowed the team to stay flexible, move with the conditions, and live comfortably in the middle of extreme alpine terrain.

For Remco, Jarin, and Dave, this was about chasing the kind of terrain that keeps pulling you back to the mountains. The kind of lines that most people only look at from a distance. Deep in Zinal, Switzerland, the three riders set out to explore a newly discovered route descending toward the village. Not the longest line they had ever ridden, but easily one of the most technical. Steep faces. Narrow passages. Exposure everywhere. Terrain that demanded complete focus from top to bottom.

And during one of the heaviest avalanche periods of the season, every decision mattered. The goal was never simply to make something spectacular. It was finding the balance between pushing limits and making it back safely. Reading snow conditions. Taking calculated risks. Knowing when to continue and when to stop. In terrain like this, experience becomes everything. For the team, the trip represented something bigger than freeriding alone. “We’re always searching for adventure,” said Remco.
‍

“Not just for ourselves, but to show people what motivates us to keep doing this. If you’re a musician, at some point you want to record your own album. For us, this is that.”
‍

To make a project like this possible, flexibility became essential. Conditions changed daily. Locations shifted constantly. They needed a setup that could move with them and adapt to the environment just as quickly as they did.

Their solution was an Expandable 30ft Pod, fully transformed into a mobile mountain mansion and mounted onto a 6x6 MAN truck. Inside, it became far more than transportation. It became their basecamp, their recovery space, and their home throughout the expedition. The unit was equipped with eight sleeping places, a full kitchen, shower, toilet, washing machine, and everything needed to live comfortably in extreme winter conditions for an entire week.
After long days in dangerous terrain, they returned to a warm, reliable space where they could rest, review footage, dry gear, study weather forecasts, and prepare for the next day. In an environment where conditions can change within hours, having that level of independence made all the difference.

The Expandable allowed the team to stay close to the mountains instead of constantly moving between hotels, villages, and resorts. It gave them the freedom to react instantly when weather windows opened up. And perhaps most importantly, it created a place that genuinely felt like home in the middle of the Alps. Because projects like this are never only about skiing. They’re about chasing an idea that refuses to leave your head until you make it real.

At Expandable, we’re incredibly proud to have played a small part in helping Remco, Jarin, and Dave bring this dream to life. Seeing our Expandable 30ft Pod become part of such a raw and demanding adventure in the mountains is exactly what these units are built for giving people the freedom to go further, stay flexible, and focus completely on what drives them.

The image shows two individuals standing next to an overturned, large vehicle chassis, presumably for maintenance or educational purposes. The chassis has multiple axles and wheels, indicating it's from a heavy vehicle like a truck or a bus. The setting is an industrial or warehouse environment, with shelving units in the background containing various boxes, suggesting this might be a storage or a workshop area. The presence of the people gives a sense of scale to the large vehicle parts.
